How do I import my Discogs collection?
- Open Settings and choose Connect Discogs.
- Enter your Discogs username or your profile link.
- Review the records found and import them. Every copy you own comes over as its own record, so a second pressing of the same album stays separate.
What about a private collection?
A private Discogs collection needs a personal access token, which you create in your Discogs settings. With a token, your grades and notes come over too.
Does it stay in sync?
Yes. After the first import, Vinyl Portfolio checks Discogs for records you have added every 12 hours, and whenever you tap Sync now. It only adds: removing a record on Discogs never deletes it here.
What comes over from Discogs?
Each record arrives with its pressing already identified, because a Discogs collection item points to one release: label, year, country, catalog number and the format description, plus its cover. Vinyl Portfolio then draws the variant, values the record for its condition and adds it to your collection chart. With a personal token, the condition grades and notes you kept on Discogs come over as well.
Do I still need Discogs after importing?
No, but you can keep using both. Vinyl Portfolio works on its own once your records are in, and if you keep adding records on Discogs, the sync brings them across. Records you add in Vinyl Portfolio stay here and are not written back to Discogs.
Can I import from a spreadsheet instead?
Yes. A CSV file of your collection can be imported too.
